What is Opalescence teeth whitening?

What to expect from teeth whitening
Before visiting our office for a whitening treatment in Glen Carbon or O’Fallon, Illinois, or Clayton, Missouri, we recommend visiting your primary dentist for a checkup. Your dentist will discuss your teeth and gum health to determine whether a whitening treatment is best for you. This routine checkup will also eliminate plaque and surface stains, creating a smooth surface that will make your treatment more effective.
Once you’ve visited your dentist, you can come in for your appointment with us. At one of our Greater St. Louis orthodontics offices, you will share some medical history, like existing health conditions or tooth implants. Then, we can begin your treatment.
Treatment step-by-step

Our orthodontists will determine your beginning tooth shade, place a lip and cheek retractor to keep your tongue and lips clear of the whitening gel, and then place a protective barrier around your gumline to prevent the gel from irritating your gums.

Once your gums, lips, and tongue are protected, we will use a gentle, brushed tip to apply the whitening gel to your teeth. The gel will remain on your teeth for 20 minutes before being suctioned off.

Once suctioned off, we will evaluate your shade change and determine if you need another application. We can apply the Opalescence gel up to three times within one treatment session.

Following the final gel application, the protective barrier and retractor come off easily, and you will notice a brighter smile!

On average, professional teeth whitening costs around $600. We proudly offer this treatment for $500, so you can get an amazing smile at an amazing price! This cost reflects the treatment process and aftercare supplies we will provide. While dental or orthodontic insurance doesn’t typically cover this procedure, we offer several flexible payment plans that make the treatment accessible to all patients.
