Troop to Troop: Giving Back Near and Far
At Amazing Smiles, we believe our community is everything. That was the inspiration behind our development of the Troop to Troop program, which support scouts, first responders, and members of our military. This program combines two things we love – educating young people and supporting the people who work hard for our country and communities.
Through Troop to Troop, Amazing Smiles partners with local girl scout troops to purchase and deliver cookies for active members of the military, veterans at the VA, and also for our local first responders. Since starting this program a couple years ago, Amazing Smiles has purchased HUNDREDS of boxes of cookies for these heroes! The scouts don’t just drop off the cookies – they join us in one of our offices for a private tour, demonstration, and have a chance to ask questions with our experienced doctors and staff. At the end, they receive a goodie bag of everything they’ll need to develop healthy dental habits for life. The girls also receive fun patches they can add to their vest for visiting us! The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that children start being evaluated by a certified orthodontist at the age of 7, so this is a perfect opportunity to introduce the girls to how fun it is at the office, not to mention it’s always free to visit!
Our team cares deeply about giving back, and we love the opportunities we have to make a big impact through Amazing Smiles! Founder and community leader Dr. Jeff explains why giving is such a cornerstone of his business:
Having the Troop to Troop program for our local Girl Scouts is all about building up our youth, and instilling confidence in them. We are empowering these girls to help achieve their goals, while also serving a higher purpose. What makes this program a win-win is these cookies make their way overseas to our military troops who are so far away from the comforts of home, giving them a semblance of normalcy for a short time. Our team also brings them to local first responders as well as our retired vets at the VA hospital in St. Louis. We are proud to work with our local Girl Scouts year after year, and to help the proud men and women who have served and are currently serving our country.
